Pairing a GMMK 3 keyboard with a new wireless receiver (dongle) only takes a few minutes. All you have to do is flash the right firmware on your dongle and initiate the pairing process via the keyboard.
BEFORE RUNNING THE UPDATER FOR YOUR DONGLE, PLEASE ENSURE THAT GLORIOUS CORE IS FULLY CLOSED AND YOUR GMMK 3 KEYBOARD IS SET TO WIRED AND UNPLUGGED FROM YOUR PC. MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG ANY OTHER WIRELESS DONGLES AS WELL.
FLASHING DONGLE FIRMWARE (WinOS ONLY)
- Connect the dongle to a 2.0/3.0 USB port on your PC Case. Avoid using USB Hubs or USB extenders.
- Download the dongle firmware that matches your GMMK 3 variant from here. If you are not 100% sure about your GMMK 3 variant, you can see its full name in Glorious CORE.
- Extract the downloaded file and open the folder. At this point, ensure that your GMMK 3 unit is unplugged.
Run the royuan_tool.exe file. If you get a notification from your Windows Firewall, please click on "Allow" to proceed.
You should get a screen that looks like this:
Click on "Upgrade" and wait for the procedure to be finished. Once this happens, you will notice the following change:
Congratulations! The dongle should now have the firmware that matches your keyboard and can be paired (pairing instructions below).
PAIRING THE DONGLE WITH THE GMMK 3 KEYBOARD
Ensure the keyboard is powered on and the connection toggle switch, near the charging port, is set to “2.4”.
Press the following button combo to send your device into 2.4 pairing mode, indicated by a flashing blue badge. The unit will stay in pairing mode for 30 seconds:
GMMK 3 65%: FN + K
GMMK 3 75%: FN + ‘
GMMK 3 100%: FN + ‘
Connect the dongle to a USB port on your PC Case within 30 seconds. Avoid using USB Hubs or USB extenders. The keyboard and dongle should be close to one another.
If the pairing is successful, the badge will go off for 3 seconds. It will then start rapidly blinking green several times, after which it will return to the most recent RGB effect.
Congratulations! You can now use your GMMK 3 with the new wireless dongle!
MAKE SURE YOUR FIRMWARE IS UP-TO-DATE!
As a final step, you need to run the firmware update process in CORE - this ensures that the newly flashed dongle works as intended.
- Set your keyboard's mode to "wired" and use a cable to plug it directly into a 2.0/3.0 USB port on your PC case. The wireless dongle should also be plugged into a USB port.
- Run CORE, click on the keyboard, and see if there's an update available. Even if the message says "Up to Date", click on it and "start" the process.
- Wait for the update to finish and you should be all set!
