If your sidelight settings are not being saved in CORE, this could mean that you have the Battery level indicator option selected within Glorious CORE.
If the Battery level indicator is ON, the side lights will display the color of the battery charge and not the selected lighting effect (Unless Per Key lighting option is applied to the side light).
NOTE: The Battery Level Indicator is enabled by default.
The Battery level indicator option found within Glorious CORE can be seen below:
Battery level indicators:

0% - 25%: Red
-
26% - 60%: Orange
-
61% - 90%: Yellow
-
91% -100% (Fully Charged): Static Green
